Description

Thursday 12 February
5.30pm Tea & Coffee
6pm Presentation
In the Green Room of the Education Building

Our guest speaker will be Bob Dixon from the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority. The topic of his talk will be "The Last Fling—an effort to save the endangered Sticky Eremophila resinosa".

The translocation of Eremophila resinosa has been running for 11 years and is getting towards the end of the project. Bob will share insights into the biology of the species, propagation and cultural requirements including weed control and how the sites have progressed over the years including success and failures. And most importantly how crucial the help of the Volunteer Master Gardeners has been.

Bob has a passion for growing things, especially native plants, and  looking after the natural environment.  He is a horticulturalist that trained in the UK and has been on a huge 'never ending' learning curve for the last 45 years in Western Australia. He has been working in Kings Park for the last 36 years in various roles advising the general public on how to grow our native plants, managing bushland, environmental weed control and translocating rare flora back into the wild, and manages the Kings Park Volunteer Master Gardeners.

Guests are welcome to attend the members meetings.
