Thankyou for your help on Australia Day

A special thanks to all the volunteers who assisted, and the public who attended and generously gave a gold coin donation in Kings Park this Australia Day.
It was a gorgeous day in the park, and the skyworks did not dissapoint!
Congratulations to Dr Tony Scalzo for MP Volunteer Award
We have the great delight to announce that Friends of Kings Park Volunteer Dr. Tony Scalzo has won the Members of Parliament 2012 National Volunteer Award for the Environment in the Curtin Electorate, as well as the Volunteer of the Year.
On Thursday 13 December, the Hon Julie Bishop presented the awards in a ceremony to recognise and celebrate our remarkable volunteers.
Tony has been recognised for his contribution to the environment with 18 years of service to the Friends of Kings Park in the following roles:
New Kings Park Plant Release
Alyogyne cv. ‘Blue Heeler’ is a new release from the dedicated plant breeding program at Kings Park released in partnership with the Australian company Ramm Botanicals.
‘Blue Heeler’ is a beautiful, prostrate form of Alyogyne that is an ideal size for small gardens or border planting in larger landscapes. It has striking individual purple flowers on display for many months in spring and summer. In cultivation it grows to about 30 cm high by a width of about a metre.

The Friends of Kings Park 2013 Wildflower Calendar makes an ideal gift showcasing some of Western Australia's remarkable and extravagant wildflowers.
The full colour wall calendar provides a stunning array of Western Australia’s amazing native flora, captured by outstanding local photographers, to brighten each month of the new year.

Kings Park Education is Growing in 2012 (Just like our plants!)
Opening in June 2012 the new eco-friendly Kings Park Education centre will provide an exceptional learning environment set in a beautiful bushland location. Included in the new building is an interactive learning space for up to 70 students, as well as offices for the Kings Park Education team.
New Naturescaper Volunteers
The new Naturescaper volunteer program for Rio Tinto Naturescape in Kings Park is attracting keen interest from both new and existing volunteers.
