Carer Groups

Friends of Kings Park general information

Joining the Friends gives everyone the opportunity to become as involved as they wish to be. For some people, just knowing that they are members is satisfaction enough. For many others, the greatest joy is the active help they give - working to raise funds for Kings Park, growing and selling native plants, engaging in bushland restoration and conservation, assisting park staff with tending beds in the Botanic Garden or tending the Nursery Collection of rare WA flora, or providing administrative assistance in the Friend's office.

There are a wide range of activities and there are always many tasks to be undertaken and completed. In the case of administrative assistance, those involved are able to apply skills acquired in their working careers. You can acquire new skills by growing plants, tending flora or restoring and conserving the precious bushland.

Currently we have six carer groups within the Friends who are involved in assisting the Park through specialist activities.

For further information, please ring on 9480 3679 or email the Friends of Kings Park.

Volunteers for Weekend Bushland Group

The Weekend Bushland Regeneration Group needs volunteers for their activities program for 2010.

April and May are traditional months for weeding and preparation for planting.  It is often hard and tedious work, but, is perhaps one of the most important parts of the whole process of caring for the Bushland.

August 8 and 22 are dates for more work in the lead up to the Festival of Kings Park.  You are most welcome to come along and volunteer for the plant sales, or just purchase plants, that are the result of the seed collecting, weed clearance, germination and propagation in the nursery and then out to the sales.

If you can assist please arrive at the main administration building on Sunday morning at 8.30 am and then proceed to the work site with the team leader.

Any volunteer requiring a green work shirt can obtain one from the Friends office during office hours:  Tuesday to Thursday  9.30 to 3.00 pm
