Growing

The Growing Group has been able to install a brand new building for the use of volunteers and all aspects of the many activities carried on by the group.  click on the link below to see the installation of the new building.

The Growing Friends meet in the nursery every Saturday morning or during the week on a rostered basis, usually on a Wednesday.  The meeting times are 8.30 am and can be either at The Lodge or the Nursery. The group work in the nursery propagation area and on growing out plants for the very popular native plant sales, held 4 times a year.

Please note: these groups are limited in number by the space available within the growing sheds and/or nursery. The maximum number on any work day is 6.

When the date for the next induction course is decided, members will be advised in good time to register their interest.  Due to space constraints, the numbers will be limited to 15.  As these courses are very popular, interested members are encouraged to register early to avoid not obtaining a place.

Just to give you an idea of what happens in the nursery, the Growing Friends have produced approximately 11,000 plants for the March native plant sale, 9,000 for the recent May native plant sale and between 17,000-18,000 plants for the September 2009 sale.

The range of plants covers the declared rare species as well as a number of species not offered before to the public.

The usual favourites will be on sale and there will be more than 20 species of Banksias, an assortment of Grevilleas, and small Mallee Eucalyptus and a wonderful selection of compact plants.

The list of all plants for sales are on the website for viewing and downloading.
